Today is the beginning of breast cancer awareness month. This beautiful graphic is part of collaboration of artworks with #lordy.dordie.art They will feature in future BOOB LOOB projects.
Those of us who understand what it is like to be effected by breast cancer want to promote the importance of this message.
But it’s not just for October. Every month you should take the time to check those boobs. If you are at the age for regular screening then make sure you book an appointment, or find out your local Breast Screen bus time table. Free for women over 40.
A big shout out to one of my breasties @joy.blue I just received my gorgeous tote. I love it so much I’m not going to be ‘gifting’ it to anyone but myself! Beautiful bag Mia, this fabric is stunning. Love your work. 💗
Mia and I connected on the #ladystartups Activation Plan and have been in touch ever since.
Mia has a breast cancer story of her own and during lockdown in Victoria she has been sewing her little fingers off with her hand made creations. Then she added face masks to her catalogue and it was a frenzy of keeping up with demand. You can find many other lovely items at #joy.blue 💗
As we approach October and Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is timely to give thanks to the many organisations that support and inform women (and men) with a breast cancer diagnosis.
We are so blessed to have the resources and support available from these wonderful charities. Much goes on behind the scenes in order to provide this service from dedicated and caring people. As a cancer patient of the 80s it was very hard to access information. No internet and very little available to those of us desperately wanting to understand our diagnosis. Now with wonderful resources like @pinkhopeaus we can be well informed if we want information. @nbcfaus do remarkable research and are driven to find an end to deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
@mcgrathfoundation serve our breast cancer community with beautiful breast care nurses who are invaluable during such a challenging time. @fuukcancer based in WA are another great bunch who help offer advice, support and more.
Although not breast cancer specific, Em from @braveryco provides beautiful scarves available for those experiencing the dreaded hair loss. This special woman has had enough of her own challenges, having had a 3 x cancer diagnosis!! Yet there she is still working tirelessly for the cause. To help others. 💗 What a legend.
I could name so many more as we are well supported from a variety of benevolent causes. My desire is to be a part of this great Community and to have BOOB LOOB Self Check Shower Gel standing tall in amongst these worthy Institutions.
Remember to check your boobs. Early detection saves lives 💗
As we approach Breast Cancer Awareness month it is to be my one year anniversary since the launch of BOOB LOOB. A couple of months ago I excitedly contacted my manufacturers to get an order in to replenish my now dwindling stock. I was celebrating the achievement of having nearly run out of my first batch. All those bottles now getting into women’s showers and becoming their routine reminder to self check....it has been a great start to my mission of wanting women to get to know their breasts and be on top of their breast health. Over this past year I have connected with many amazing women and forged some new friendships. Had some feedback from women who have discovered lumps after being prompted to self check via the BOOB LOOB message.
Well as many business operators know...things don’t always go as planned. I discovered my manufacturers had sold the business some months before and moved on, but they forgot to tell me! After numerous phone calls and emails I was able to locate the new manufacturing company who had bought the others out. It was not as simple as placing an order. They had outsourced their contract manufacturing to another company in another State and my formula is unavailable until further notice.
I have to W A I T 😰
This was hugely disappointing as it has stalled my ability to fulfil larger orders for wholesaling and I will be short on product for this important month. Apologies to those businesses who were to be using my product in their breast cancer care packs for October.
Limited quantities are still available, so don’t hold back.
Get a bottle or three for your besties, sisters, Mum, Auntie or Gran and make sure we keep spreading this important message.
We’ve come a long way in bra fashion...but is yours the right fit? So many of us are wearing bras that do not properly support our boobs. 💗
It makes a huge difference when your bra fits you properly.
According to CHOICE Australia. It's estimated that over 70% of women are wearing the wrong size bra. The most common problems are that the cup size is too small and the underband too big. Poorly fitting bras – especially for larger women – can cause all sorts of problems, such as grooves in the shoulder, bad posture, rounded shoulders, upper trapezium pain, skin irritation and chaffing, loss of range of shoulder movement, and upper back pain. Nerve symptoms include pins and needles and numbness in wrists and hands. And finally, there's breast pain.
Experts tell us that bra fitting is an art as well as a science.
It really helps every once in a while to go and consult with an accredited bra fitter.
BOOB LOOB proudly supports ( pardon the pun) a few of these specialist Bra Fitters.
I caught up with a special friend recently who has just completed surgery and radiotherapy after a Breast Screening mammogram picked up her breast cancer. She said she could not feel the lump. Thankfully it detected this cancer in the early stages.
Mammograms are important and should be incorporated into women’s health regime once they reach 50. If you have a family history, speak to your GP about when you should start breast screening. 💗 ... See MoreSee Less
